Strategic Planning Facilitation

Strategic plans help keep coalitions and organizations focused and moving forward in positive ways.

Too often, however, strategic plans become long, drawn-out ordeals that participants learn to dread.  They tend to be tedious and mind-numbing.  The resulting documents are often so elaborate and overwhelming that they end up getting shelved because of their complexity.  In addition, these strategic plans often try to plan too far into the future.  Unfortunately, our world changes so rapidly that the well thought-out plans quickly become obsolete. 

We believe strategic plans don't have to be overwhelming, boring, and drawn-out.  We believe they need to be lean, flexible, and target a shorter-time frame.

In one 4-5 hour session, we can help your coalition, community team, or organization accomplish the following:

• Develop a mission statement
• Develop a vision statement
• Examine your organization's strengths
• Examine your organization's weaknesses
• Identify opportunities in your community
• Identify threats to your organization that need to be addressed
• Agree upon 4 or 5 goals for the coming 12 to 18 months
• Lay out a plan to develop action steps for each goal

Typically, we follow this plan up with ongoing support to help communities identify and agree on action steps to accomplish their goals.  Without specific action plans, the goals are quickly forgotten.
