Direct Services from the Oklahoma Federation of Families

The Oklahoma Federation of Families provides direct services to families who have children or youth with behavioral or emotional health issues.  We also provide services to communities, agencies, and organizations that work directly with these families.  Our strategic planning and training services can also be adapted to meet the needs of a variety of organizations.  If you are interested in our services contact us so we can talk specifically about your needs and how we can help.

Strategic Planning Facilitation

We offer a custom-tailored strategic planning service to community coalitions and agency staff that work on issues related to youth and children's emotional and behavioral health.  Team building exercises can be incorporated into this service at the request of the client.  This service is offered at no charge to Community Teams in Systems of Care communities, and to agency staff working with Systems of Care families in those communities.

These services are also available at a negotiated price for other organizations seeking an intensive, compacted planning event.

Training & Technical Assistance to Systems of Care Communities
The Oklahoma Federation of Families partners with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in making the national Systems of Care model the standard for providing services to children and youth in the state of Oklahoma.  Training and Technical Assistance related to Systems of Care development is provided at no charge to family members, youth, child-serving agency staff, community leaders, volunteers, and other interested professionals in those communities that have embraced the Systems of Care concept.

The same training events, team building, and coalition building strengths we bring to Systems of Care are easily adapted for other organizations.  Contact us if you are interested in using our training expertise for your organization.

    Group Facilitation

Sometimes organization need a little outside help to move their group or staff toward a goal.  That goal may be something as fun as playing together or as serious as conflict resolution.  Perhaps a group needs to brainstorm some new solutions together or learn to communicate better across departments.  Whatever your need, our talented staff can help design and implement a facilitation process to meet your goal.

Technical Assistance to Family Support Groups

Our staff provides technical assistance to family support groups for families of children and youth with emotional and behavioral issues.  We help groups develop leadership, provide tip sheets for meetings, conduct training in meeting facilitation, help groups complete applications for state and federal non-profit agency status, etc.  These services are offered free of charge to family groups with a focus on children and youth's emotional and behavioral health.  Recently we designed a Family Support Group Development Manual as part of this service.

Family Leadership Academy

The Family Leadership Academy is a series of interactive classes for family members and caregivers aimed at developing the skills necessary for effective participation at the policy level on boards and committees.  The six two-hour sessions focus on public speaking, meeting facilitation, board member responsibilities, advocacy, interpretation of financial reports, etc.  These services are offered free of charge to family groups with a focus on children and youth's emotional and behavioral health.

Although originally designed to train parents and caregivers of children and youth with emotional and behavioral health needs, we have many requests to offer this service and these materials to a larger audience--adult and youth consumers as well as agency and organization personnel.  The materials are easily adapted.  Contact us if you are interested in our Leadership Academy for your group.

Children's Conference

Sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, this large annual conference focuses on issues and programs specifically related to children with emotional and behavioral issues, and their families.  The Oklahoma Federation of Families sponsors a specific conference track for families aimed at issues they have identified as critical to their ability to work with their children.  Scholarships offsetting the costs of registration, lodging, transportation, meals and child-care are available.
