Our Vision

The Oklahoma Federation of Families for Youth and Children's Mental Health seeks to end the isolation and stigma associated with emotional, behavioral or mental disorders in children by empowering their families and caregivers to advocate for the removal of barriers to effective treatment and support.


Our Mission

The Oklahoma Federation of Families for Youth and Children's Mental Health provides education, information and support to families and caregivers of children and youth with emotional, behavioral or other mental health related issues.

Products Developed Especially for Families

Our products are well-written and well-designed by our qualified staff to encourage, educate, and provide new skills for families.  They teach families practical skills so that they can advocate more successfully for themselves, their children, and their families.  In addition, our products offer practical helps for professionals who work with families and children with emotional and behavioral disorders.

 
Family Leadership Academy
The Family Leadership Academy is a series of interactive classes for family members and caregivers aimed at developing the skills necessary for effective participation at the policy level on boards and committees.  The six two-hour sessions focus on:
  • Public speaking
  • Meeting facilitation
  • Board member responsibilities
  • Advocacy
  • Interpretation of financial reports.

Family Support Group Development Manual

The Family Support Group Development Manual is a practical tool for support group organizers and facilitators.  It answers key questions about beginning and managing a healthy support group, such as:
  • Why have a support group?

  • How do you keep an existing group healthy?
  • What skills are necessary to facilitate a group?
