Oklahoma Federation Earns Prestigious ECCO Award
Oklahoma Federation of FamiliesSilent Auction Raises Over $1300This year, the Oklahoma Federation of Families sponsored a silent auction at the Children's Behavioral Health Conference. Money raised at the auction will go into a fund to help send families to the Children's conference in 2008. This year we were able to give scholarships for 35 families to attend the conference. Donations to the auction came from individuals, organizations, and System of Care sites. We had a great variety of items to auction. Our largest bid was from Dr. Baumgardner for the hand-made guitar, which she then donated to the Tulsa Boy's Home. Thanks, Dr. Baumgardner, for your support!
The silent auction was so successful we are planning to repeat this fund raiser again next year. Make plans now to donate as many items as you can. The more items, the more money we will raise for families.
Oklahoma Federation of Families Annual Board MeetingThe Oklahoma Federation of Families' Board conducted their annual meeting in conjunction with the 2007 Children's Behavioral Health Conference. The board is made up of representatives from family support groups from around the state. At the meeting, the board enjoyed a box lunch and heard about the good things that are happening with the Federation's work. Susan Boehrer, Executive Director, talked about the expansion of support groups across the state and the infrastructure grant that we have applied for. Chair, Gerri Mullendore, discussed the Federation's positive financial situation including over $5000 earmarked to help Family Support Groups in the next year.
